Conflict, Cuisine and Culture
During my tenth grade year, while COVID had shut down the world, I decided to create the Evan Worldwide Global Youth Perspective podcast. The idea for this podcast came from everything I love: food, culture, languages and collaborating with young people from around the world. While participating in Model UN, I met many wonderfully bright and talented young leaders that shared a common purpose and passion for learning about different cultures and creating social change. We organized Zoom sessions, sometimes “too late or too early” as my parents commented but they knew I was passionate about discussing global topics surrounding politics, social conflicts, traditional cuisines and learning about other cultures with my new friends. I found each of their lives and their world views to be incredibly fascinating that I wanted to share our discussions with the rest of the world. With my friend’s consent, I began creating my podcast by recording each interview and making videos about their their views on social, political, economic issues in their country and of course, we discussed their interesting cuisines. From the traditional food of their country to their favorite dishes and some secret homemade recipes, I realized that discussing food and culture truly brings people together. I am excited to share my award winning podcast with you and hope you enjoy the amazing cultural insights from my friends around the world.
